Volunteers briefed and ready at a drinks station

Every event we organize at Event 66 runs on a team of volunteers. Without them, these events are not possible. Handing out water, driving people and gear to the start, keeping the clock, pointing runners the right way, keeping the road safe.

There is a bite and a drink for you, and you get the best view on the island. You can see the whole thing from up close and get to feel the tension and energy of the participants when they are trying to give it their all. Volunteers watch the finish from the finish line instead of on a phone afterwards. Help at one event and you will know half the field by name before the morning is over.

What you might end up doing

Course direction

Stand at a junction, point people in the right direction to follow the course, and be sure to cheer them on: your loud encouragement makes a huge difference to the participants. The most important job there is.

Water & food station

Handing out drinks and snacks, and telling everyone they look great when they clearly don't.

Transport

Getting people and gear to a start line that's usually somewhere inconvenient.

Finish & timing

Clock, medals, results, and the photo everybody wants.

Traffic control

Keeping the road safe where the course meets it, so everyone gets round without a car in the way.
